Training - CFOT

CFOT® or, Certified Fiber Optic Technician, is the FOA certification for general fiber optics applications.

This course is one of three First Level Certifications. It is a prerequisite for Advanced and Specialist FOA certifications.

The course is based upon the FOA Reference Guide to Fiber Optics textbook.

This course can be taught at the customer's premises.

You will receive your CFOT endorsement after successfully completing this course.

The course format is an equal mix of lecturing and hands-on style of course.

You will be introduced to the tools of the trade ie: VFL, Light Source, Power Meter, OTDR, etc.

You will also introduced to the techniques of handling, inspecting, cleaning, terminating, splicing and testing fiber cables.

At the end of the course, you will write the 100 question CFOT exam (70% is a passing grade).

The FOA CFOT exam includes a test of the applicant's level of knowledge of fiber optics in a broad-based exam that covers technology, components, installation and testing and requires verified skills in fiber optics.
